February 2021 Challenge: "Lost and Found"

"Mom's Cranberry Glasses" by Pamela Copeman 10'x20' oil

Zoom portrait in progress12"x16" oil on panel
This is lost and found, because she was someone I had met briefly prior to covid, and recently has returned in my life.  Also thinking about lost and found edges.

"Mystery", 9x12 Inch mixed media on 140 lb watercolor paper by Kelley Carey MacDonald
This piece has lots of layers, some thin, some thick, layers including calligraphy, speckles, shapes, lines and washes.  Inspired by but not limited to Panetone's colors for this year.

"Abbey Mass During the Pandemic" 18"x24" acrylic by Paula Villanova
When the pandemic began a year ago, I stopped attending public Mass. Our local monastery began to livestream Mass on Sundays to view from home which now, many churches do. It immediately struck me as sad that this chapel which is usually packed with worshippers is now limited to the few monks that reside there. Here are 4 who were in my field of view online. Sadly, one of the resident monks passed from COVID-19 after being treated in a facility for another health issue.

"Beautiful In It's Time" gouache 4X8 by Jeanne MacFarland
Even though we lose the light of the sun each night it faithfully returns each morning

"Snow Glaze On Ice" charcoal sketchbook drawing by Margaret Farrell Bruno.
Beautiful light on our neighborhood pond.

"Lost in Shadows, Found in Light" 8"X10" Acrylic by Victoria Chesley Brega

"The Thin Veil"12"x8" Acrylic by Page Pearson Railsback

"View from Above" ink & watercolor by Jody Regan .  During this strange year of Covid-19-induced isolation, I have found quiet places for drawing and thinking. Here in a local cemetery, I think about all the lives lost while pondering the new ways I have found to stay grounded and connected.

“Lost in Thought” 8x8 acrylic by Mary Sheehan Winn

Feeling so many losses but trying to keep the faith.
I’m taking a “modern’ painting class, the point of which is to change perspective and create design, thus this painting of a lady, by the pool, lost in thought.
