Girls Just Wanna Paint is a small group of 10 -12
artists who paint to a topic every month. On the first day of each
month we publish our responses on our collaborative blog. Within a week we
meet in person for a casual meal and an opportunity to view and critique each
others’ work
At the monthly meeting
someone volunteers to host the next meeting. The next host chooses the
new challenge for the month and promptly follows up with an email reminder
describing the new topic, date and time of the next meeting, and suggestions as
to the food/beverages she thinks would be fun and appropriate.
Our work is limited to a
small format (5x5, 5x7, 6x6, 6x4, 6x8, 8x8) but can be any
medium. Occasionally we have shows, and we may choose topics and
sizes/shapes of panels that relate in some way to the venue.
Girls
Just Wanna Paint was founded by Kelley MacDonald in July, 2009 as a
supportive group of painters who share information, opportunities and
support. Camaraderie, mutual respect, and courtesy are expected and
cherished in this group, as well as openness and a sense of fun!

I always enjoy your posts. Lovely work all of you.
ReplyDeleteI would like to paint along with you but I can see it requires living in your area. I have an idea though, it would be lovely for you to send out a note to your readers to let us know what you're working on each month, that way we can challenge ourselves with the same subject.
BTW I hope you don't mind me pointing out there's an error in your "about" repetition of every and each in the second sentance.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, this blog.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Sea, thank you for pointing out the error - I just corrected it! I love your idea too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea to meet with fellow artists and view each others work! Wish I was a part of this.
